Passport Inc., the top company honored during Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50 awards program Thursday night, posted a whopping 475.5% revenue growth from 2013-2015.

A signal of continued growth in the future, the Charlotte fintech firm, which provides mobile payment software for the North American parking and transit industries, announced just earlier this week that it had acquired Arizona-based mobile parking payment startup ParkX LLC for an undisclosed amount.

Passport was among 50 private companies recognized by CBJ for posting stellar revenue growth over the past three years as well as positively impacting the Charlotte region. This year’s qualifying Fast 50 companies collectively contributed more than $800 million dollars to Charlotte’s regional economy and employ over 3,260 workers.

The sold-out awards ceremony was held at Hilton Charlotte Center City in uptown Charlotte with nearly 470 guests in attendance.

Now in its eighth year, the awards program determines winners using a formula that reflects dollar and percentage growth during a three-year period.

Companies applied for inclusion by submitting nominations that included financial performance, and accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen evaluated the figures provided to determine the rankings. Only those firms with headquarters in the 16-county Charlotte region and revenue of at least $1 million in 2015 were considered.

CBJ‘s five fastest-growing private companies are:

  1. Passport Inc., average three-year revenue growth of 475.5%
  2. AddShoppers Inc., 353.6%
  3. Torrent Consulting, 180%
  4. DecisionPathHR, 176.3%
  5. American Engineering, 170.2%
