Commercial Permits, Refreshed

By Rachel Kleman, Product Manager, Parking & Permits
Managing parking permits at scale shouldn’t be complicated. That’s especially true for our city partners supporting local businesses, universities, and property managers – organizations that rely on bulk permitting to keep things moving smoothly.
That’s why we’ve rolled out a major refresh to Passport’s Commercial Permits system: to make it easier to manage, scale, and hand off to group admins with confidence.
What’s New
This release includes some of our most requested improvements:
- Partial permit purchases, so group admins don’t have to buy the full quantity unless they need to
- First-time payments directly in CMRpay, cutting down on manual steps
- Cart-style checkout, allowing multiple configurations to be added and paid for at once
- Archiving tools for both groups and configurations, keeping things clean and current
- More visibility into permit and payment status, including refunds, reversals, and auto-renew status
And behind the scenes, we’ve added more flexibility around configuration timing, improved the permit assignment experience, and introduced smart controls like centralized editing and clearer grouping in the permit search view.
What It Means For You
These updates give cities more control, reduce manual processes, and make it easier for admins to manage permits on their own. Whether you’re creating new groups, issuing permits, or keeping track of payment activity, the workflow is now faster, clearer, and easier to scale.
And We’re Just Getting Started
This refresh lays the groundwork for even more improvements in the months ahead. We’ll continue working with our partners to evolve the experience and your feedback helps shape what comes next.
