Serving the greater Denver area in Colorado, Parkwell provides parking and mobility management solutions for today and tomorrow. Founded in 2016 by parking veteran Joel Christensen, the company was built to stand in the gap between technology, mobility solutions and traditional parking management.

Why Passport

When evaluating technology to power Parkwell’s offerings, the team knew they needed a cloud based solution that was built on an open API platform. They also wanted partners with laser focus on the customer experience. They were drawn to Passport’s mobility platform that expanded outside of just mobile pay parking and into enforcement, permits and payments capabilities. “We saw Passport as a platform with a host of solutions that would allow us to meet many of our needs with one partner versus multiple vendors,” said Founder and CEO, Joel Christensen.

An all-in-one solution

Since day one, Parkwell has offered mobile pay parking throughout the 25 Denver zones using the Passport Parking app. Upon launch, they created signage that included both the Passport and Parkwell logo as well as directions on how to download the app, and have seen a steady increase in mobile payments and adoption overtime. In-app transactions continue to increase on average 185% YoY with total mobile pay revenue increasing 9x in just two years.

Parkwell also utilizes the Passport Enforcement solution, and appreciates that it integrates with other partners they use, such as T2, to help streamline the enforcement process. “Our collection rate has been stable since day one and the [enforcement] product is consistent and reliable,” said Joel. “My team likes that they can sign into OpsMan to receive simple and streamlined reporting, as well as manage appeals and questions all in one place,” he continued.

With Passport’s platform, the Parkwell team was also able to implement a digital permit solution using license plate technology, and move away from traditional monthly permitting. This has ultimately eliminated manual processes. They currently manage close to 400 active permits throughout the Denver area.

A Growing Partnership

Having a dedicated partner and team was important to Parkwell when choosing a vendor. “The product continues to be built out. It’s an impressive platform, but I would say hands down the reason Passport has grown and is so successful is its approach to clients and how they handle customers. It’s evident that Passport puts a lot of emphasis on that and makes themselves available,” said Joel when asked about his partnership with the Passport team.

As Parkwell continues to look toward the future and plan strategically for what’s next, they are focused on the end-user experience and will continue to look to Passport’s leadership and expertise to help them achieve their mission.
