City of Eureka, CA improves parking compliance and streamlines payments with Passport
New system centralizes all curbside transactions, improving visibility and operational efficiency
Eureka, Calif. (April 13, 2026) – In partnership with Passport, the City of Eureka, California, is enhancing its parking operations through a unified platform. The newly implemented system gives the city modern tools to strengthen parking compliance and more effectively oversee curbside payments.
Eureka is using Passport’s enforcement solution to help officers identify parking activity more quickly and enforce regulations with greater consistency. The technology allows Eureka to reduce manual processes and gain better visibility into parking compliance across the city.
“Our team needed a more efficient and flexible way to manage parking and compliance across the city,” said Jay Wortelboer, Engineering Project Manager for the City of Eureka. “These tools give us better insight into parking activity and help streamline operations, so we can spend less time on manual tasks and more time supporting the needs of our community.”
Drivers in Eureka can pay for and manage parking sessions through the Passport Parking app, allowing them to start and extend parking sessions directly from their phones instead of returning to the meter. The free app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play. Permit holders will also benefit from the upgraded system by applying for, renewing, and managing their residential and specialty permits online.
Passport’s meter and pay-station payment processing solution also allows the city’s finance teams to consolidate payment data and gain stronger operational visibility by managing, viewing, and reconciling all physical card-present, mobile, and digital transactions within a single system.
“Eureka has taken an important step forward by transitioning from a legacy system to a modern, flexible platform that equips its team with the tools needed to operate more efficiently and with greater visibility,” said Tyler Cain, Regional Sales Director at Passport. “As we continue expanding our presence throughout California, we’re proud to partner with communities like Eureka to deliver compliance-driven solutions that reduce complexity, improve transparency, and create a more responsive and effective curb management experience.”
